Arriving in Rome With a very loud thud and a whoosh of air, we touched down on the runway. Definitely not the smoothest, but at least we were on the ground again. This was it! I had made it to Rome! After battling to get my carry-on luggage a few rows up, I headed down the steps of the plane. I had waited so long for this moment. As I stepped down and took my first steps into Italy, an Italian man who also had just gotten off the flight grabbed me and planted a large, forceful kiss right on my unsuspecting lips. Alora (well). That is one way to be welcomed into a country! After shaking off the shock, I went to the first bus driver to find ... Read More
Strong women
Today I am just over here obsessing over some art I love showing fetching strong women. Has anyone here seen Anna Hammer’s work? I found it a few years ago on Society6.com and absolutely adore her designs. Her style is very minimalistic and yet somehow the pictures are so realistic and seriously the greatest! I love how clean the lines are and the more muted colors that go into these masterpieces. The simplicity is so classic and draws you in. Not to mention that she primarily focuses on drawing women. I love how she draws and portrays women. No matter what color of hair they have, and whether they are dressed to the nines or ... Read More

Garage sale! 10¢ or less! Finding your Worth
Something that has been jogging at full speed through the pathways of my thoughts all week.... WORTH. The world is such a vast place, and it often seems like a constant competition of who looks the most beautiful, who is the funniest, kindest, most popular, most successful, richest, etc. There are so many people trying to win this contest! Even without consciously realizing it, we can get caught up in these worldly measurements and forget something. The price tags are always being stuck onto things. They use those awful stickers that never seem to come off. That way the cost can't be adjusted. None of these things ... Read More
Just a Pair of Shoes
i am obsessed. True story. Even when I don't have the money to buy shoes, I still look at them, pin them, and look at everyone's feet just to see what shoes they are wearing. You realize the addiction has peaked about the same time your collection has to be moved to the hall linen closet and the sheets and towels are forced to inhabit a much smaller home far away.... If there was a therapy addiction meeting, it would go something like this: "Hi, my name is Heather. On my honor I have not bought a pair of shoes in like two or three weeks. But holy smokes, have you seen the new ones at DSW?! I had to force myself to close the website, but ... Read More
Exploring Ostia Antica
Whether you are a history junkie or just have a thing for ruins and disaster, this site is for you. Just outside of Fiumicino, Ostia Antica is a masterpiece of tales once told. It is the harbour city of Ancient Rome, and used to sit at the mouth of the river Tiber. Now, it is over 2 miles away from the sea. The frescoes and mosaics throughout the site are amazing and most have been well preserved. You may be asking... why are a bunch of old rocks and broken down buildings so impressive? They just get me. There is something magnificent about archeological ruins. Yes, for the obvious reason that people once lived here and history is ... Read More
Kindness begins with you
Remember that old saying, “Kindness begins with you?” Have you ever really taken the time to think about that in the literal sense? The world spends a ton of time focusing on teaching people to be nice to others, (which is essential) but there is not a ton of discussion about where that kindness comes from. Does it just show up out of thin air with a POOF? Can you buy some in a jar on aisle 7 at the grocery store? Kindness, or the act of being nice, is an outward action that people choose to use (or not use) while interacting with the people around them. The special thing about it is that it literally does “begin with you.” I am not ... Read More
