You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know. - William Wilberforce After seeing The Abolitionists movie on Friday, I have to speak up. I know I am only one voice in a sea of influence, but all I know is I'm not meant to be silent. Slavery did not end with the Emancipation. It is still alive and rampant in our world. It is swept under the rug, the screams of pain and suffering are silenced by torture and threats. Human trafficking happens in every country of the world - including here in the USA. Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) is working ... Read More
Authentic
Wow. It's been awhile... hey again! Life has changed quite a bit since the last time I wrote on here. Since this is more of where I keep my thoughts and less of a day-by-day travel log, we'll save that stuff for another time and place. Lately, I have been thinking a lot about being authentic. If I were able to sit and talk to my future self, would she be happy? Would she be proud of this person I am today? If I knew what was coming, or what could be...would I change what I am doing? After a conversation I had a few weeks ago about figuring out exactly WHAT I want, I haven't been able to think of ... Read More
For when your goals are too big
You know those dreams? The HUGE scary ones that make you feel like you are completely inadequate? Yep, those crazy ideas you get in your head that make you feel like a quack job because you catch yourself talking to them? I have been battling a few of those something fierce lately. One of them is this blog. I think about it at the most random of times. I thought a year ago that it was a good idea and got it launched, and then literally froze up. And sort of panicked. Why did I panic, you ask? (haha hopefully you asked) Holy smokes. As soon as I set my hosting account up and got my blog designed to a semi-acceptable style that I didn’t hate ... Read More
Birds in flight
So...yeah. I may or may not have a broom on my head in this picture. While simultaneously sharing some feelings. Let me explain! We had to remove the hoop to park our trailer this one time...due to the weight of the metal, the screws would NOT line up and it kept leaning down too far. Rather than A: get another ladder or B: just leave it off, I chose C: a creative alternative in which you prop it up with a random item. My arms got tired. So next best option? Practice balancing with a broom on my head. Obviously.... Why, then, am I also displaying my middle finger? One point could be made that I am pretty talented for being able to ... Read More
Living A Voyage of Greys
A name is everything. It is the chosen method for what you call those you love, those you despise (the name of bananas is up there on that list), and all the stuff in between. Whether it is the name of your gorgeous brand new baby, or the name of your beloved dirtbike Stacy and your truck who is Stacy’s mom (haha my brother’s current loves), a name is a big deal. WELCOME! So here we are. In A Voyage of Greys. I just want to officially welcome you to my home away from home! This is kind of my brand new baby, a brain project that will grow and improve and learn with me. I am so glad you stopped by!! I have no idea what I am doing, but I plan ... Read More
To Blog or Not To Blog
To Blog, or Not To Blog That is the question.... If you are anything like me, you have thought about starting a blog for a long time. And yet here you are...still wondering if it is a good idea. I am so glad you found me! I started my first blog back in 2008 - but I locked it so it ended up being an online journal. FUN FACT: I suck at journaling, so I am pretty sure it is locked up somewhere in the deep, vast interweb with maybe 4 posts and no way to be useful to anyone else - including me. When I finally got up the courage to start a real PUBLIC blog, I was silently panicking inside. You worry that you are wasting your time. That nobody ... Read More
Laser hair removal…does it work?
Laser hair removal can change your life. Trust me on this one. In this post I want to share the how and why I decided to do it, and let you know what I think about all of it. Since these things are personal, I hope you will be able to get enough information here to make an informed decision and figure out if it is right for you as well - or if you want to keep that soft, furry goodness. My journey started around the same time as most women - puberty hit and we realized that it wasn't all that cute to have fuzzy legs. Yes, I think at that age most of the hair on my legs were blonde, but it still glistened in the sun like a fine set of ... Read More
A Minimalism Challenge
(Image from www.asmithblog.com) Along with all the other changes I have been making in my life, I have been thinking and planning to add a few other BIG adjustments. I heard about minimalist lifestyles a few months ago while scanning through Pinterest. At first, I just thought "good for you, but I need all this stuff. I use it all." I let the whole concept "stew" in my mind over the following weeks. As I get dressed in the morning, I pay attention to the fact that all of these clothes I couldn't get rid of still hang in my closet untouched. Don't get me wrong. I am HUGE on downsizing my closet. Instead of going through clothes once ... Read More
